Outreach Services to the Underserved
The Foundation has a commitment to supporting outreach which makes library services available to those who cannot receive them through traditional means.
- The Deschutes Public Library's Bookmobile provides library materials and programs to children, young adults, parents, and child care providers who are unable to visit a Deschutes Public Library branch.
- The "We Deliver" program provides library materials to Deschutes County residents in senior housing and residential care communities - and to the Bend Senior Center.
- The "HomeWord Bound" program provides access to Deschutes Public Library's materials for homebound Deschutes County residents. This free service is available for Deschutes County residents who are homebound due to short or long term disabilities or illness.
- "Hispanic Heritage Month" is part of an ongoing effort to reach out to the Latino community to introduce the library and welcome future visits.
